The GPU was apparently held on with unicorn tears & Apple has ran out it's supply of those. Personally I'd get rid of that MacBook Pro.
I'd use that time to ensure it is backed up & look for an alternative. You may get some extra use via gfxCardStatus if you force intel graphics Thanks for any insights or advice on this matter.
